Talent Cultivation and Development

Next-Generation Talent Development

In response to the rise of fintech and big data, Nan Shan Life has developed a new generation talent recruitment program through internal and external recruitment platforms, campus recruitment, and university-industry collaboration. Based on the Company’s business direction, the program strategically recruits talent to support key business development and enhance long term corporate sustainability competitiveness. In recent years, Nan Shan Life has also supported government initiatives to create employment opportunities for youth. In 2024, employees aged under 30 accounted for 59.1% of total new hires.

Internship Program

Since its launch in 2018, the program has successfully trained more than 500 promising students. In 2024, Nan Shan Life expanded its recruitment to 105 interns.

Industry-Academia Collaboration Program

Nan Shan Life’s industry-academia cooperation program is committed to bridging the gap between academic learning and practical application. The company cooperates with various universities to offer professional courses, corporate visits, and campus recruitments, to allow students can get in touch with the industry while still in school and improve their employability.

Management Associate (MA) Program

Since the program’s inception, it has successfully developed six cohorts, comprising a total of 74 management trainees. Of these, 68 have completed the training, representing nearly 2% of the total workforce, with an impressive retention rate approaching 100%.

Talent Empowerment

Nan Shan Life is deeply committed to the cultivation and development of its talent. By integrating both internal and external training resources, the Company has established a comprehensive employee training and development system aimed at enhancing workforce competitiveness and building a foundation for sustainable competitive advantage.
Nan Shan Life has established a structured sustainability training system to enhance ESG expertise and forward-looking capabilities among employees, board members, and senior executives. In 2024, the training programs covered ESG and sustainable finance topics (TNFD, IFRS S1/S2), including a dedicated course for senior executives on “Insurance Governance under Climate and Nature-related Risks.” Starting in 2025, sustainability courses will become a mandatory requirement for managerial promotions. Monthly ESG-themed courses are offered, alongside support for external training and certification. A subsidy program for certifications and course participation will also be introduced in 2025 to further encourage engagement. In 2024, Nan Shan Life provided a total of 19 hours of sustainability transformation training to all employees, with over 16,652 completions of online sustainability courses. The annual investment in the employee sustainability transformation program exceeded NT$20 million. The ratio of expenses allocated to ESG-related underwriting and investment training or education to the total annual training expenditure reached 896.2%.

Talent Attraction and Retention

Remuneration System

Nan Shan Life benchmarks its overall compensation against the median and above of the financial and insurance industry salary surveys. The Company closely monitors market trends and maintains strategic flexibility for key talent to ensure competitive advantage in attracting and retaining talent.
In alignment with government policy to increase salaries for young employees, Nan Shan Life reviews entry-level salary standards annually based on market conditions. In 2024, the starting monthly salary for university graduates is NT$34,000, and NT$36,000 for master’s degree holders. Salaries for specific roles or specialized talents may be flexibly adjusted according to job responsibilities, and all are higher than the statutory minimum wage in Taiwan.

In 2024, the Nan Shan Life Employee Experience Survey explored several dimensions, including team dynamics and management style, work value, mental and physical well-being (happiness and stress levels), growth and development, diversity, inclusion, and sense of belonging, workplace environment, and digital technology utilization.

Healthy and Safe Workplace Care

Nan Shan takes a holistic approach to caring for employees’ physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. We firmly believe that only happy employees can convey on the power of happiness to our clients. With a people-centered mindset, we have built a comprehensive care system to foster a workplace that promotes happiness.

Nanshan Life Insurance leverages systems, regular reports, and communication management mechanisms to remind and assist employees in effective time management, thereby promoting their physical and mental well-being. To strengthen working hour management, Nanshan Life Insurance has also established an overtime management policy. Employees may apply for overtime based on business or project needs, and overtime pay will be issued upon approval by the authorized supervisor.

To effectively prevent occupational accidents and promote employee safety and health, Nan Shan Life has formulated an OSH management plan tailored to our operational risks and the nature of our work. This plan covers all employees, dispatched personnel, and property management center workers (including security guards, cleaning staff, and property management personnel).

In the event of a workplace accident or major occupational incident causing injury or death, immediate action must be taken and reported to the unit supervisor. High-level managers and the safety communication group must be notified in real time via messaging tools. For major incidents, the affected unit must initiate emergency rescue measures. Except for essential first aid, the scene must not be altered without approval from judicial or inspection authorities. An investigation and review must follow, with records submitted to designated safety personnel and the corporate OSH department. The incident must also be reported within 8 hours to the regional labor inspection office via the hotline listed on the Ministry of Labor’s OSH Administration website.

Nan Shan Life has established an Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Committee composed of eight members, with labor representatives accounting for 37.5% of the committee. Meetings are held quarterly to review, coordinate, and provide recommendations on matters related to workplace safety, health, and employee well-being. Resolutions are submitted to the President for approval and announced accordingly. In addition, OSH personnel and committee members conduct annual hazard identification and risk assessments for office operations and other high-risk tasks, with continuous efforts toward safety and health improvements.

In 2024, Nan Shan Life conducted 58 occupational safety and health training sessions (including fire drills), with a total of 4,026 participants. Additionally, 358 workplace inspections were carried out (including locations used by non-employee), achieving 100% coverage. For high-risk units, secondary inspections were added to ensure continuous improvement. There were 130 improvement suggestions, with an improvement rate of 100%.

Health Promotion and Wellness Initiatives

To enhance employees’ physical, mental, and spiritual well-being, Nan Shan designs a wide array of diverse health promotion programs and activities each year. These initiatives aim to cultivate an engaged and vibrant workforce, encouraging employees to stay active and mindful of their health.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Nan Shan Life collaborates with the external professional counseling organization, Hsinchu Lifeline Association, to implement the “Mind Care Room” Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Leveraging the partner’s extensive support system, service locations throughout Taiwan, and a network of hundreds of professional consultants, the program provides employees with 24-hour toll-free hotline access (0800) and individual counseling services. Employees may apply for counseling sessions based on their personal needs, enabling them to relieve stress from both work and personal life, strengthen their psychological resilience, understand underlying issues, and explore appropriate solutions at their own discretion.

In addition, we invited consultants from various fields to offer online health seminars to proactively promote EAP services and safeguard employee well-being. Since the program‘s inception in 2016, the employees has used EAP services a total of 544 employee visits. Participation in the “Health Care Lecture Series” has totaled 309 attendees, and achieved an average satisfaction score of 5.7 out of 6 in 2024.

Compassionate Listening Channels

To listen to and address employee concerns, Nan Shan Life has established multiple communication platforms to collect employee feedback, suggestions, or complaints. All submissions are handled with strict confidentiality and responded to respectfully, cultivating a workplace environment based on mutual respect, equality, and open communication. These efforts strengthen employee engagement and sense of belonging.

In 2024, Nan Shan Life received 23 employee suggestions. Each was met with a proactive and empathetic response, reflecting the company’s commitment to open communication and employee well-being, with a 100% response rate.
