Nan Shan ESG
Message from the Chairman
In recent years, the world has faced escalating challenges from extreme climate events and increasingly complex geopolitical dynamics. These changes have made it clear: building a stable, resilient, and sustainable society is essential. As the largest independent insurance company in Taiwan, Nan Shan Life is committed to continuously advancing our management practices and operational efficiency. By strategically leveraging both internal capabilities and external partnerships, we are actively driving our sustainability agenda, with a strong focus on making meaningful contributions to health and social inclusion.

Responding to Taiwan’s national sustainability agenda, including the establishment of the National Climate Change Committee and the Healthy Taiwan Promotion Committee, Nan Shan Life has developed a "Sustainable Health" strategy, based on our industry expertise and long-term advantages. This strategy is built upon three core pillars: environmental health, personal health, and social health. It addresses key areas such as physical, mental, and financial well-being, responsible investment, environmental protection, diversity and inclusion, and public welfare initiatives. Through public-private partnerships, resource integration, and cross-sector collaboration, Nan Shan Life strives to advance the vision of sustainable health and reinforce Taiwan’s collective health capital.

On the global stage, Nan Shan Life once again took part in the World Climate Summit (WCS), a major side event at COP29 in 2024. With a keynote theme of “Climate Resilience and Health – Financing Strategies for a Healthier Future,” Nan Shan Life showcased its efforts to advance sustainable health through its core business operations and public welfare advocacy, further highlighting the role and contribution of Taiwanese enterprises in the international community.

In 2024, while maintaining stable operations, Nan Shan Life achieved several key milestones in its sustainability journey. We completed the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) validation, established a Carbon Management Task Force, and received the Net Zero “Green Level” certification from the Taiwan Alliance for Net Zero Emission (TANZE). In addition, Nan Shan Life earned numerous important domestic and international accolades, including being named among the “Taiwan Top 100 Sustainability Model Enterprise” at the 17th Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards (TCSA 2024), and winning the “Life Insurance Company of the Year” at the Asia Insurance Industry Awards (AIIA), among a total of 67 prestigious awards earned in 2024. These achievements further validate Nan Shan Life’s commitment to becoming a "Leader in Sustainable Health.“

Through this 12th Sustainability Report, Nan Shan Life continues to align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), respond to domestic and international sustainability trends and standards. Guided by its “Sustainable Health” strategy, the Company transparently and comprehensively discloses its ESG efforts and progress to stakeholders who care about the Company’s sustainable development.

As Taiwan enters a super-aged society, Nan Shan Life fully recognizes the financial risks and care needs that come with aging. In 2025, we will call on the public to proactively prepare across five dimensions—personal, lifestyle, corporate, social, and environmental—to holistically invest in health. Life is like an ultra-marathon, and Nan Shan Life aspires to be the most trusted pacing coach for its clients, guiding them not only through post-event claims but also by promoting proactive health management. We continue to provide innovative, practical insurance solutions designed to empower clients to confidently navigate a wide range of risks and challenges. Over the years, Nan Shan Life remains a steadfast companion in the life journeys of our clients. While contributing to a better society, we ensure that everyone is “prepared for the future”.
